I've owned this ever since it first came out, and have re-read it more times than any of the other Kurland MacLeod/de Piaget/McKinnon stories. It's funny and poignant, a great read by a very good author. You get the usual glimpses of the extended clan's other time travelers, and of course, the resident matchmaking ghosts!

Iolanthe and Alex's story is the prequel to "Much Ado In The Moonlight", Victoria and Connor's story. All of Kurland's books stand alone, but you'll get more out of V&C's story if you read this one first.

This is a heart-wrenching, time travelling tale well done by Lynn Kurland. My Heart Stood Still is one of my favorites of the MacLeod family series, and I usually pull it off the shelf and reread several times a year. The pacing and character development draws the reader in, the tenderly grown feelings keep the reader involved. I wouldn't recommend skipping the rest of the series, but with a little leap of faith this is a great read and introduction to Lynn Kurland as an author.
I love the characters in my love the family Dynamics. the characters are humorous and yet very heartfelt and heartwarming. I would highly recommend the whole series!
I got totally caught up in the story of a modern-day Knight and his Medieval ghosts. I always leave Lynn Kurland’s books wishing the next one was ready for me.
I have loved Lynn Kurland books a long time!!! This book does not disappoint; she's an awesome writer. I love the MacLeod series & her de Piaget series!!! I would recommend these books to everyone especially avid readers, like me.
I love Lynn Kurlands books and this was no different in the fact that I hated to have to put it down, Her characters are so believable in their actions and emotions. Her Knights are strong fierce men, but are not ashamed to show their softer side especially to the women they love. The women are not helpless either, some of them are just as fierce in their own way as their men. The way she creates the way things were in the different time periods in both Scotland and England is amazing. You can, with a little imagination, actually feel as if you were really there and experiencing the same thing the characters are.
I really liked this book-I wasn't sure at first with the plot of so many ghosts. Well written, loved the characters, and lots going on with the plot. I was ready to buy more of the series til I saw the high prices for the kindle-I had gotten a sale from Book Bub for this one- with 9 books in the series I may look into the paperback version but evem that is very expensive to buy all--I may need to be satisfied to have had the opportunity to read this one.A really good book that I will read again
Welcome to the wonderful world of Lynn Kurland and her fantastic talent and imagination. She is one of my two favorite authors. There are many wonderful authors, but Lynn Kurland and Diana Gabaldon top my list. You cannot go wrong with Kurlands time travel books. They are all keepers that you can enjoy again and again. Iolanthe Mac Leod and Thomas MacLeod are the main characters and are very likeable All the players in this book are very likeable. Iolanthe is sold ,by her father, to a Lord who is not a very good man. He kills her because she would not tell him the secret of her fathers keep. There is also,in the story, three loveable ghosts. who are matchmakers. Ambrose MacLeod, Hugh McKinnon and Fulbert dePiaget. The refer to themselves, and the men of the keep , as shades. It is a very good read Iolanthe is a seven hundred year old ghost, and Thomas is a modern day man. As you will learn they meet and become very attached to each other. Tom goes back in time to help her..and the story goes on from there. It is a very good read. I highly recommend this book and all her books to anyone who loves time travel books, or just good books.
